Sri Lanka. Shathi Sena CC is directly affected by the devastating Tsunami.

Dear URI Friends,

We are certain that you are very much apprised of the devastation that had caused by the Tsunami that left 21000 dead thundered of thousands displaced according to Government records. According to Sarvodaya estimated over 30.000 may perished. Within 2 hours of the disaster an Operations room was establish at Sarvodaya Head quarters.

Ever since then Shanthi Sena CC has been called upon to do the bulk of work of course there had been a remarkable response from other Young people who had volunteered to load and unload goods, transports many item to distant parts of the country seemed to have rises to the occasion displaying such comradeship . The whole country seemed to have risen to the occasion displaying such comradeship. the International NGOs located in the country and those from abroad had been sending materials and financial assistance ever since then.

For Shanthi Sena CC this has been an unprecedented experience in handling an issue of such a magnitude. It has tested our capacity and dedication to accomplish such a gigantic task. The distribution of needed items, providing medical assistance, and facilitating many other activities in very distant places have given the membership an experience that they would never forget.

Thank ever so much for your prompt and generous donation. We are very much heartened that your thoughts have gone to our dear friend Mr. Dharma Senanyake too. Your gesture is very much appreciated and our work which seem insurmountable help to reduce that feeling. The strength it gives certainly keep us going.

The calamity itself looks something out of the world. The power of nature is so overpowering it should make the people realize that divisive thoughts and actions are so superfluous. Now it has brought everybody together in this hour of need. Hope this will be lesson to us all.

Please let me on behalf of Shanti Sena CC extend our whole hearted sincere thanks to all those who joined in this worthy effort. The donation can be used for expenses that would involve decontamination of wells as we have got 15 pumps and some chlorine. Regards to all.
