URI is happy to welcome seven new Cooperation Circles to the URI global network, approved in the first and second meetings of the CC Approval Committee of the Global Council this year. Each of these CCs is a special and invaluable part of URI, with unique gifts for bringing healing and peace to our world.

North America Region

Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada

The highlight of ICSN’s work is bringing 70-80 kids together twice a year for four days, and  emmersing them in a process of self-understanding. They draw kids from all ethnicities, income levels, and cultures from local schools and camps for troubled youth. All these efforts are aimed at fulfilling their CC purpose, which is "to facilitate peacemaking in our local community and pray and act for it globally." Interfaith Council at Stapleton

This CC’s mission is to encourage awareness of the spiritual dimension of people and to enhance the development of and education about various religious faiths in the Denver Community, specifically in the Stapleton redevelopment area, by promoting dialogue and discussion between the various religious faiths in a safe and neutral environment. The Council meets monthly and has various activities, the main activity in last two years being two conferences on the Convergence of Science and Spirituality, where they have had some very special sessions on different topics. For example, in 2003, they had trialogue with a Rabbi, Imam, and Reverend speaking on working together. [Primary Contact Person: Rev. Europe Region

Women’s Group IJsselstroom Zwolle and surroundings

One of the main elements of purpose for this CC is to “grow in love, peace and respect for ourselves and the people around us, showing this by our behavior.” This group is highly focused on cooperation between similiar organizations in the Netherlands, saying “We are joining up with URI because we think it is important that different groups doing similar work know of each other and come together. We have made contact with the other CCs in the Netherlands.” [Primary Contact Person: Mrs. Paule Christine Bink-Wannemakers at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ]

Procesbegeleidersgroep Samenwerkingsverband Traumahulpverlening

This CC’s purpose is focused on awakening and strengthening true spiritual life in human beings and so contributing to greater resistance in times of despair. Also, this CC aims to empower people to help themselves after a calamity, such as natural catastrophes, physical and verbal violence, and political polarisation. One of this CC’s major highlights was from 2000-2005, when 10 workshops were held with experts on subjects as floodings/inundations, dealing with a  radio-active cloud, counseling dying people and souls of people who just died, and healing earth and nature after a disaster. This CC is also involved with other regional CCs, such as the Women’s Group Zwolle and the STNL, with the hope that URI might flourish in a new way in The Netherlands. Anuvrat Council for Interreligious Dialogue

This CC’s purpose is to promote interfaith cooperation, educating young and old on creating a culture of peace and non violence, and thus moving towards a non violent sociopolitical world order. This CC has been working hard for the rejuvenation of moral and spiritual values for the last 25 years, organizing five international conferences on peace and non violent action so far, and one international dialogue on non violence education and training in order to popularize the culture of Ahimsa Yatra. This CC works for peace with the focus of building an inclusive community, where there is no injustice and everyone’s traditional values are respected and supported by all, and also supporting the deepening of  personal cultural values to bring positive change for better peaceful life. This CCs dream is to create a peaceful and harmonious community where children can grow in harmony. Some of their CC highlights include working with orphan children and participating in cross cultural programs on various occasions. [Primary Contact Person: Md. MENA Region

SULHA Peace Project Cooperation

The SULHA Peace Project Cooperation Circle works to provide a group for the healing and reconciliation of the children of Abraham through developing a culture of coexistence between Arabs (Muslims, Christians, and Druze) and Jews. Modest encounters grew to large and meaningful Summer Sulha events that drew over 200-4000 people that wanted make a difference. This CC has discovered that networking and collaborating with fellow organizations are strong methods to impact reality. Each of their gathering s include the following: musical events of Arab and Jewish musicians, shared meals of 1000 people each, Tent of Sarah and Hagar (women’s space), Tent of Prayer (religious leaders pray together), Bereaved Family Circle Tent, and a listener’s circle.
