“It was a new beginning for the life of the people here,” writes URI leader Abraham Karickam about the very first observation of the International Day of Peace by his URI community in Kerala State, Southern India.

This event awakened the awareness in people in our village in India that they could be part of creating peace for the whole world, and “now that we know it, we have to do it!”
Millions of people in Pakistan were reached during the URI MCC Pakistan fourth annual International Day of Peace observation. “Photographers and press reporters from 10 different dailies and TV channels covered our event in Multan,” reports Fr. James Channan.
Betsy Stang writes from the US: “Today HH Dalai Lama came to Woodstock on the International Day of Peace and spoke about the need for deep interfaith understanding and how there are jewels in all traditions.”
