On a beautiful field circled with the flags of all nations, a historic event for peace will take place the weekend of September 17-18, 2005. People will gather from far and wide to take a stand for a new vision for the 21st century based on the oneness of the human family across the globe. In recognition of the urgent need to steer our great civilization toward a culture of peace, we will come together at this summit to celebrate, educate and inspire this peace in each other and the world.

The Concert Saturday September 17, 2005, 1pm to 11pm

On Saturday evening, in the magical space under the stars among the flags of all nations, a joyful noise will fill the air as renowned artists pour their hearts into their music for the cause of peace. The concert will feature a headline artist and several exciting warm-up acts. In addition, guest appearances by celebrities will highlight various causes associated with the event. These will include some of the inspiring speakers who will preview the ideas they will present at greater length on Sunday, including authors such as Marianne Williamson.

The Festival  Sunday September 18, 2005, 11am to 7pm

On Sunday at 11 a.m., a great gathering for peace will begin with a Native American invocation ceremony led by a distinguished indigenous leader with representatives from various tribal nations of North and South America, fulfilling the ancient prophecy of the eagle meeting the condor.

Throughout the day, there will be music and speakers on the Earth Stage, as well as the solar-powered Sun Stage. Visitors will stroll the grounds - the shady Walnut Grove, the amazing Peace Path, the ceremonial field and the lovely Woods - enjoying the following attractions:

The festival will be alive with giant puppets, strolling performers, color and music-a feast for all the senses in the spirit of peace. The day will peak with a magnificent World Peace Flag Ceremony, lifting the flag of each nation to a musical beat. All present will be asked to raise their voices in a heartfelt call for peace in every country of the world, followed by a massive drum circle. The finale, led by a well-known musical group, will have everyone dancing in the twilight: a community of people dedicated to a world at peace.

The Place

The World Peace Sanctuary in Amenia, New York is the ideal location for the Imagine Peace Festival and Concert. Home to 13 years of peace festivals since 1991, the Sanctuary is a sacred space with a mission expressed in the prayer, "May Peace Prevail on Earth." Its 154 acres in the foothills of the Berkshire mountains were once the summer ceremonial grounds of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. Visitors will enjoy the Globe Sculpture and the inspiring Peace Path, featuring a Peace Pole for each of the 191 countries of the United Nations, each with the prayer "May Peace Be in (that country)" in its national language.

The Purpose

  • To gather together people who want to change the direction of our civilization
  • To uplift them with great music
  • To inspire them with dynamic speakers
  • To provide information on many ways they can help
  • To create community among people of peace

The Beneficiaries

This event is produced by a not-for-profit organization. The ticket price will be a very modest fee to cover expenses, at $45 for the concert and $20 for the festival. In addition, a percentage of any profits will benefit charitable organizations working for peace and a better world.

Be Part of the Imagine... Nation!
