Nepal: URI Youth List
Dear Friends, Namaste.
We have planned to do some programs here in Nepal to highlight the International Day of Peace, September 21, 2005. We are looking for your suggestions and prayers for this great event. As you might know, the Maoists have announced the cease fire again, so let's hope this cease fire will changed into sustainable peace and spiritual peace. Let's pray....

Name of the main Organizations :  Hindu Vidya Peeth-Nepal (HVP) Youth Society for Peace (YSP) and Shanti Sandesh Yatra Pariwa

SUMMARY OF PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR 21ST SEPTEMBER  2005

WHAT:  In this upcoming International Day of Peace on September 21st, 2005, we have planned mainly three different activities –

  1. Talk on various  colleges throughout the week on the topic of " Youth for Peace and Progress”
  2. Poem Competition among children with the theme of " Message of Peace"
  3. Awareness Raising Rally with the message of " Peace and Spirituality for Humanity"

WHY: The Talk programme basically aims to empower the youth to develop the consciousness of peace with his/her peers and within himself .It will encourage the youths to understand Peace in totality and find out their role as well to reform it and realize it.

We are organizing poem competition among the children to encourage the children to express their creativity and realize the importance of peace themselves and be able to express their opinions through the medium of words.

We aim to spread the message and importance of the International Day of Peace  through the awareness raising rally. The rally with the theme of " Peace and Sprituality for Humanity" will inform the people about the interconnection between these three aspects.

HOW:
Talk Programme:
The talks will be organized throughout the week (16th- 22nd September) in around 10 different colleges in Nepal in coordination of Youth Society for Peace. The talks will be delivered by Dr. C.M.Yogi, founder principal of Hindu Vidya-Peeth Nepal, a charity based school run by a social organization and founder of Shanti Sewa Ashram and Patron of Youth Society for Peace. Dr. Yogi has vast experience of serving society and encouraging the youths with his inspirational talks.

Poem Competition:
Ever since the beginning of our establishment, we have been conducting a programme for children with the theme of " Seeds of Peace", which is organized every Saturday morning. The poem competition will be organized among the children of seeds of peace on 17th September.  3 prominent writers and poets of Nepal will be invited to judge the children's poems. Best three contributors will be given attractive prizes, which will be sponsored by interested individuals or organizations.

Awareness Raising Rally:
The rally will be organized on the auspicious day of International  Day of Peace on September 21st. The theme of the rally will be "Peace and Spirituality for humanity". More than 1000 youths, social workers and peace lovers/workers will participate in the rally. Besides that, the prominent religious leaders of different religions of Nepal (Hindu, Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains and Christians ) will be with us.

Maputo, Mozambique. Sabapathy Alagiah

Our event will include prayers for peace, a minute of silence for the dead, messages for peace by inter-religious leaders and African Traditionals, songs for peace by Scouts, school children and teachers, etc.

Blantyre, Malawi.  Joyce Ng’oma
Dear Friends, Greetings of love and Peace to you all.

It is with joy that URI Malawi will for the first time be able to participate in the UN IDP on the 21st September, 2005.

All CCs have joined hands to celebrate the day with over 200 pupils/students of CHISAPI PRIVATE SCHOOL, which has both a Primary and Secondary School. The students are of mixed races and religions too. The school is located on the outskirts of the city of Blantyre.  We are hoping to create a unique relationship with the school and the entire community surrounding this school.

The chiefs and the Member of Parliament for the area have been invited. Among the activities are poems, a talk on peace, a drama on conflict resolution, singing and dancing. The function will end with candle lighting and a prayer for peace. We have invited both the print and electronic media to capture all the activities. Hope you will be able to see the activities. MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH.

JOYCE WITH ALL URI MEMBERS IN MALAWI.
