San Francisco, California “…And here is an organization that’s putting people from all the different religions in the world together and doing it in a manner that is respectful of the religious traditions and differences, and bringing people together in a constructive way. It seems to me if anything has a real chance to make a contribution, this is the sort of thing and the URI is what can do it. So all of you who are heavily involved in devoting your lives to this, I express to you my deep gratitude for what you’re doing, and I think all of us can feel comfortable that this effort is going forward and feel privileged to do whatever we can to help it along…”
From a speech given by Mr. Shultz at URI’s February 21st Circles of Light Gala in San Francisco. Mr. Shultz and his wife, Charlotte Mailliard Shultz, Chief of Protocol for San Francisco and the state of California, were honored at the Circles of Light for their respective work in diplomacy and hospitality, both of which are imbedded in the founding Principles of URI.
