Majd el-Krum, Israel: Students from two different schools came together to jointly study the old Arab Village. On June 26th, a joint study day took place in A-Sallam Elementary School on the theme of the old Arab village and its development.

In the study, fifth graders from Kalanit, a school in Karmiel, and A-Sallam, a school in Majd el-Krum, participated.

The history teacher Buteina Yassin, in cooperation with the educators and the students' council, prepared study-spots around different aspects of the development of the Arab village in the land. In addition, they collected different instruments and tools from that period: musical instruments, house wares, work tools etc. as well as costumes that people wore at the time. Each instrument and tool was accompanied by explanations from the teacher about the object and its use.

At the end of the day, the students danced together, partaking in oriental dances with the traditional dancing costumes. The mothers prepared foods that were being cooked decades ago and the kids tasted them and asked about the way they are prepared.

In short: it was an interesting and challenging day, full of learning and of connecting past and present.
