Two reports from the Karmiel-Majd el-Krum Interfaith Enconter in Israel.

1. Preparation encounter: On Sunday, September 25th 2005, we met, the leading teams for the year in Kalanit and Al-Sallam Schools, in order to plan the meetings of the group during the school year of 2005-6.

In the encounter it was decided to hold three initiated encounters of the leading teams throughout the year:

First encounter on Wednesday, November 11th 2005, in Al-Sallam School

Second encounter on Tuesday, March 3rd 2006, in Kalanit School

Third encounter on Tuesday, June 6th 2006, in Al-Sallam School

 

2. Encounter of the teams of the two schools on the theme of the Jewish customs of the Month of Elul and New Year.

In the early evening of Sunday, October 2nd 2005, the teams of the two schools met in Karmiel.

In the encounter we talked about times of forgiveness in Judaism and the custom of "Slichot" (literally: forgiveness

The encounter ended with wishes for a good year, a year of fruitful cooperation and of strengthening ties between the teams as well as the students and advancing all the goals we set for ourselves for the coming year.

We also scheduled an encounter for the coming Ramadan. It will be held at Al-Sallam School during October, towards Eid el-Fitr.

with the teams of each age-level of the two schools, that will prepare working plans for the year and will come to the encounter with already well-developed ideas. around a theme (with a lecture/film/study theme). in order to summarize all the meetings and all the class meetings. the special prayers recited during the weeks before Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement), the meaning of the fast of Yom Kippur and the custom of sending each other greeting-cards.
