Amman, Jordan. On Sunday August 20, 2006 early morning, 12 members of Quested Peace took off to Irbid (80 KM north of Amman) by bus.
After two hours driving, we reached Al Hussein Mother House for Orphans. The House hosts around 150 orphans, their ages between 5-13. We were lucky to meet 32 of them.
[Al Hussein Mother House for Orphans hosts Muslim and Christian children who have, due to unfortunate circumstances, lost one or both of their parents or were abandoned because their families simply couldn't afford to feed or clothe them anymore. This House cares enough to allow the children to visit their relatives or guardians to sustain these relationships, and they go to great lengths to ensure that the children receive good education.]
The program included:
1-Getting to know each other activities.
2- Talent Shows.
3- Games.
4- Gift and School stationery distribution.
We listen to their dreams and ambitions, and encourage them to work hard to achieve them. We tried to inspire them by our real life experience and how we achieved our goals in life by overcoming all challenges.
Spending a day between innocent children is like spending a day in Heaven, You are surrounded by little white hearts and serving a noble purpose.
It is important in life and meaningful to dedicate time to serve others. You can't imagine how little efforts could mean a lot for others. Everyone should do whatever he/she can to help these children.
We all had the chance to explore our passion for these little children and to play with them as much as we could to just let them smile and laugh with us that day. Their willingness to accept and interact with us was admirable.
Visiting (Al Hussein Mother House for Orphans) was a very fulfilling time and made a positive impression, again we feel that the kids made a difference in us as we made a difference for them.
May god protect all innocent people around the world.
All the best.
