The Interfaith Council of Washington is hosting two interfaith services this Thanksgiving. One service is being held in collaboration with the Interfaith Task Force to End Homelessness to bless warm clothes that will be taken to local shelters. The other is for the Care of Creation.
Thanksgiving Interfaith Service to Bless "Warm for Winter" Hats & Scarves
When: Sunday, November 11, 2007, 2:00 pm
Where: Trinity United Methodist Church in Ballard
6512 23rd Avenue NW
Cost: Freewill Offering
Please join the Interfaith Task Force to End Homelessness and Trinity United Methodist Church at an Interfaith Thanksgiving service to offer praise to the Ultimate Reality we call by many names — Absolute, Allah, Brahman, Creator, Dharmakaya, Elohim, Father, Great Spirit, God, Goddess, Kami, Lady, Lord, Love, Mother, One, Perfection, Savior, Source, Spirit, Tao — yet cannot be limited by any name or concept.
Last year, more than 1,600 beautifully knitted, crocheted, and sewn hats and scarves from 40 congregations and organizations were brought together to be blessed at the Interfaith Praise & Thanksgiving service. They were delivered promptly to shelters — just before a serious cold snap occurred on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone was blessed — those who who received the "Warm for Winter" items, those who lovingly created the warm items for homeless individuals, and those who attended the service.
