Melbourne, Australia. "Healing Land, Healing Love," is the latest multi-faith healing conference held by the Common CC.  It was held on the International Day of Peace, 21st September, 2007, at the Aboriginal Maya Healling Centre. [View the report with pictures HERE.]

The subtitle of our program was "Having the courage to have our lives and our land at peace."

We began the full-day conference with a welcome to the Country and a Tree Planting Ceremony by Undle Reg Blow, Aboriginal Elder, followed by the Multi-faith Service with Calls to Prayer & Prayers for Healing

The Panel Discussion included Youth Representatives of Faiths and Aboriginal, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Christian, Buddist, Hindu, and Bahai perspectives on the topic "Wisdom and oneness – what our teachings tell us about healing and preparing for a future of peace among people and with the Earth." The teachings of each philosophy and faith give guidelines about how to live. What can this wisdom tell us about how to move from a culture of conflict and unsustainable relations with the Earth toward a culture of peace and a healthy relationship with the land?

All joined in Muslim Prayers at noon, and shared lunch provided by the courtesy of the Sikh Community.

Afternoon workshops were led by Aboriginal Elders and Interfaith spirituality leaders, followed by Tea, and a Sacred Sounds workshop by Dya Singh, from Dya Singh World Music Group, with Parvyn Kaur and guests.

The spirit-filled day was concluded in ceremony by Jessiee Kaur Singh and Uncle Reg Blow.

COMMON grew from people of diverse beliefs and faiths who came together to foster friendship across ideological and religious divides. We aim to contribute to building a society where there is respect and understanding between all those of belief or faith, be it religious or secular.
