Manila. The Peacemaker's Circle partners with the Office on Muslim Affairs.
On October 2, the Office of the President on Muslim Affairs for the National Capital Region, through its Regional Director Mohammad T. Tanggote, will sign a Memorandum of Agreement with The Peacemakers’ Circle Foundation, Inc., represented by its Executive Director, Marites Guingona-Africa. The signing will take place during a Medical and Relief Mission for the Muslim fire victims in Quiapo Dos in Maharlika Village, Taguig City, organized by The Peacemakers' Circle for the Interfaith Action for Social Change.
Director Tanggote, who assumed office last September 9, expressed his desire to fast track the promotion of Muslim culture and development of the Manila Golden Mosque and Cultural Center (MGMCC) in Quiapo, Manila, and the Blue Mosque and Cultural Center in Taguig City. He said that these two places of Islamic worship must become fitting showcases of the Filipino Muslim’s image locally, and internationally.
Also in his plans to fast tract are the Socio-Economic Program on Cooperative, Trade, and Entrepreneurial enhancement; the effective Relief Management and Settlement Programs; legal services and assistance; the establishment of Satellite/Action Centers in Muslim communities, and a more efficient office management and public service delivery.
The Memorandum of Agreement between the Office on Muslim Affairs (OMA) and the Peacemakers’ Circle formalizes their partnership in the endeavor of building peaceful and harmonious relationships among Muslims of different tribes in grassroots Muslim communities, and between Muslims and Christians around Metro Manila where OMA satellite offices or Action Centers will be established.
Yesterday (September 30), ABS CBN, a popular local television station, sent its crew to visit The Peacemakers' Circle's office to interview Marites and Lee Collano (Coordinator of the Muslim-Christian grassroots community projects). The crew, led by its producer, are doing a story on the October 2 event which will be aired on "Citizen Patrol," a segment of the primetime television news program , TV Patrol. Marites and Lee then accompanied the television crew to Quiapo Dos where the television crew interviewed the Muslim fire victims, and took footages of the refugee camps around the Blue Mosque. |
