Volunteering and Service Projects

URI places great value on giving service. The Young Leaders Program uses service and volunteering as a way to engage young people and give them training in a range of areas from project planning and management to fostering interfaith cooperation in the community.

Bay Area Youth Network

In the San Francisco Bay Area, the home of URI’s Global Office, URI is pioneering a network of youth and interfaith organizations who come together to share their experiences, learn from one another and organize activities for service learning in the Bay Area.

Activities in the past have included a coastal clean-up day; community gardening; and a youth speakers’ panel in which college students visited high schools to share their interfaith experiences and values and encourage social action and leadership.

The Bay Area Youth Network will be running several Service Learning Activities in 2011. To find out more, contact youth@uri.org

Global Service Immersion Program

URI is in the process of developing an international volunteering program for young people which will pilot in 2012. Stay tuned.
