URI Members Win Women's Peace Initiative Award

Ms. Najeeba Sirhan and Ms. Osnat Aram-Daphna, coordinators of the Karmiel & Majd el-Krum Interfaith Encounter Cooperation Circle, were selected as the recipients of the Women’s Peace Initiative Award of the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding.  The Tanenbaum Center launched its Middle East-North Africa Women’s Peace Initiative in 2006 to identify, promote, and support religiously motivated women who are risking their lives and freedom for peace in areas of armed conflict in the Middle East-North Africa region.

Course in Jerusalem Provokes Re-evaluation

The Interfaith Encounter Association is now conducting a bi-weekly course jointly organized with Mevakshei Derech Community entitled, "Encounter with the Religions of Jerusalem."  The first session of this course resulted in provocative insight that questions liberal assumptions about religious violence and interfaith dialogue.

Iftar Celebration Illustrates Sincerity of Youth in Jordan

The month of Ramadan is about giving , loving and feeling the needs of others. Our target this month is to draw a smile on children?s faces. As an action of love and care, the Seeds of Peace CC in cooperation with the Quested Peace CC, arranged an Iftar (Ramadan Breaking of the fast) with the students of Sheneller School in Rusaifa that is 30 minutes from Amman.

Israeli and Palestinian Youth Engage in Interfaith Dialogue

The launch and second encounter of the first Israeli-Palestinian ongoing Interfaith Encounter group, the Jerusalem-Hebron Youth Interfaith Encounter, took place on August 2nd and September 9th. Similar to other groups of the Interfaith Encounter Association, this group too puts its emphasis on ongoing and deep encounter between people of different faiths who live here (in the Holy Land.) What is unique about our group is the composition of its members: young Jewish Israelis and Palestinian Muslims.

Jerusalem CC Studies Tishrei and Eid el-Fitr

The "Study and Dialogue" Interfaith Encounter group met on October 16th in order to learn and talk about the theme of Holidays – the Jewish Holidays of Tishrei and the Muslim Holiday of Eid el-Fitr. Unlike what we are used to in this group, only a small part of the encounter focused on the planned theme while the interesting points that arose out of the dialogue carried the conversation elsewhere.
