Youth Orientation on "Creating a Culture of Peace Through Interfaith Friendships"

On February 9, 2008, the United Religions Initiative Southeast Asia-Pacific (URI-SEAP) Regional Office, in cooperation with The Peacemakers’ Circle Foundation, Inc. gathered eighteen youths from different organizations, schools and faith backgrounds for a Youth Orientation on "Creating a Culture of Peace through Interfaith Friendships." The Peacemakers’ Interfaith Dialogue Center hosted the meeting; attendees included representatives from the Catholic Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Wiccan and Indigenous faiths, and other various organizations and institutions.

Peacemaker's Circle Aids with Creation of Interfaith Committee

On June 4, 2007, an Executive Order, entitled "Strengthening the Government's Interfaith Program through the Creation of a National Committee," was signed by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.  This order was for the creation of a committee on interfaith cooperation in the Philippines, a huge recognition of the importance of interfaith Peacebuilding, and the drafting of it was influenced by the work of various non-government and religious organizations engaged in promoting interfaith dialogue and collaboration in the country.

Imam-Priest Dialogues in the Philippines Produce Impressive Results

The Peacemaker’s Circle in Metro Manila Philippines has been working tirelessly on local efforts to end the religiously motivated conflicts in their part of the region and has succeeded in bringing Priests and Imams together, not only to talk to each other and make plans for establishing peace, but also to relate with each other on unexpected levels. This is a large, inspiring, and hope-filled step towards ending the violence that has been raging there for decades.
