OCICE Campaigns for Community Involvement in Climate Crisis
Written by Rev. Susan Chamberlain/OCICE CC
Monday, 07 July 2008

With less than 5% of the world’s population, the United States produces more than 25% of the global greenhouse gas emissions, and those emissions continue to grow.  One of URI’s North America Cooperation Circles, The Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment (OCICE), believes that US cities can, and should act to reduce green house gas emissions.  The organization is deeply concerned about the effects of Global Warming and what each individual can do to help solve the global climate crisis.

TRUST WIN CC "TeenTalk" Program Brings Teens Together to Discuss Religion
Written by Michal Weiner
Monday, 07 July 2008
Jerusalem. For an outsider looking in, it appeared to be a completely normal gathering of teenage girls. As they piled into the room, they were laughing about parties they had been to, complaining about teachers in school, and worrying about upcoming tests. The only difference was that these girls were about to begin the first meeting of the TRUST-Emun project entitled TeenTalk–Teens Discuss Religion.

Seeds of Peace CC Journeys to Wadi Rum Desert
Written by Suzan Dababneh
Thursday, 03 July 2008
Wadi Rum Desert, Jordan. A journey to Wadi Rum is a journey to another world. A vast, silent place, timeless and starkly beautiful, Wadi Rum is one of Jordan's main tourist attractions. One of the most stunning deserts in the world, Wadi Rum lies 320 km southwest of Amman, 120 km south of Petra, and only 68 km north of Aqaba. Uniquely shaped massive mountains rise vertically out of the pink desert sand, which separate one dark mass from another in a magnificent desert scene of breathtaking beauty, with towering cliffs of weathered stone. The faces of the sheer rock cliffs have been eroded by the wind into faces of men, animals and monsters. Wadi Rum is probably best known because of its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18, and as the setting for the film that carried his name "Lawrence of Arabia."

We were planning future study sessions for people to learn from the Koran and the Torah about significant topics to build non-violence and reconciliation here.
