ABC interviews Qutub Kidwai April 2013

Listen to (or read) an interview with Qutub as she talks about the history of the Muslim Personal Law and the negative impact it has had upon women.  Qutub has conducted over 200 interviews of the ulama, lawyers and activists and has drafted a revised version of the code. 

Global Fund for Women

The Global Fund for Women is a publicly supported, nonprofit grantmaking foundation that advances women's human rights by funding women-led organizations in nearly 200 countries. They provide general operating support grants to organizations working at the local, regional and national levels to enable women and girls to reach their potential and live free of discrimination and violence.

We identify, invest in and bring visibility to  extraordinary women around the world by unleashing their leadership potential to transform lives and accelerate peace and prosperity in their communities. We meet a leader and observe how she’s dedicated to making her community and country a better place to live and work in. Then we invest in her. Through training and mentoring we offer new skills and knowledge to help her succeed. We introduce her to women leaders in similar fields, and to international networks where she can learn from others and share new ideas. 

Women for Women International

Women for Women International supports women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives. They work with socially excluded women in eight countries where war and conflict have devastated lives and communities. Women who enroll in their one-year program learn job skills and receive business training so they can earn a living. They come to understand their rights and how to fight for those rights in their homes, their communities and their nations. They learn how to become leaders.
