Pennsylvania rates number two for the most hate crimes in the U.S. There are a lot of white supremacist groups in this area. Members felt it was important to build a “beloved community” based on Dr. King’s work and get groups of people together, to have dialogue and to learn from one another. Because Bucks County is so very diverse, interfaith work is very much needed. Interfaith Community of Lower Bucks organizes potlucks for peace, celebrates the holidays of different faiths like Ramadan and the Jewish Sabbath, hosts an Interfaith Film Festival and offers an Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration. Members present an annual peacemakers’ award in honor of their founder, Rev. Al Krass, and partner with other peacebuilding groups in the community like the Peace Center, Welcoming the Stranger and One Bucks. They appreciate learning about each other's faith and sharing their desire to make the world a better place. They perceive their work has had an impact in the community and that there is a greater awareness of the diversity in the community and a greater appreciation of it as an outcome of their work.

VALUE: Integrity, compassion, our differences, learning about each other's faith and sharing our desire to make the world a better place
