Pialsole Aboriginal Development Society

This CC is located in the Purulia District, of West Bengal, East India.  This district is one of the least developed in Bengal. There are deep tribal conflicts. CC members have been working for several years to try to bring about harmony. Their vision is to have a world free of discrimination, one in which no one is judged by the color of their skin, and where there are no castes.

Members of this CC create employment opportunities for young people. There is great concern that the younger generation is leaving the countryside and migrating to cities in search of employment.  Local forests used to be a source of financial income, but massive deforestation has changed this. This CC is trying to rejuvenate local activity so that communities are not torn apart.  Members have a very strong commitment to economic sustainability
