The World Religion and Tolerance Group is the first high school Cooperation Circle in URI North America. It is adding the model and knowledge of creating interfaith communities at an early stage. Teaching high school students is going to feed into college interfaith and beyond into URI broadly. Many of the kids in the club are really passionate about what they want to do because they believe that it is a lot easier to get people involved when you are speaking to them as a peer. As a Cooperation Circle they want to create an area where students feel safe in expressing, sharing and learning each other’s viewpoints regardless of the faith/non faith tradition they come from. They are establishing a safe space on high school campuses where interfaith work can take place. This entails educating students on world views, providing dialogue opportunities and then serving the community. They support one another as a family and they have a clear vision for how this interfaith work ties into an entire cycle of creating peace.
