Saree Distribution

On the 8^th May 2012 the day to celebrate the 150^th Birthday of renowned poet Guru Rabindranath Tagore, Ektaan Cooperation Circle hosts a “Saree Distribution Ceremony” at Vivekanda Math, near Barapukuria at Asansol with DPSC Ladies Club a long time supporter of “Ektaan”. Dishergarh Power Supply Company ( DPSC) ladies social club donated sarees to the needy ones.

Blanket Distribution

On the 18th of December 2011,  155 people mostly elderly people who were suffering from a strong cold (record breaking cold in 10 years) were given blanket under the community service project jointly hosted by Rainbow CC and Ektaan CC, as well as Rev. Kisku from Rural Development society CC (RDS) also participated in the program. Local school ( Panchmura High School, in Bankura District, area of where Rainbow CC work)  hosted the program at their premises and Panchayat ( local Legislation of people) Head
also attended the program.
This was a very touchy program specially serving those in time of their need.

May URI continue to support people at the most ground level.

Music of Joy

On 14^th of October Ektaan gave a live music performance to celebrate an evening with Ghanty family of Asansol on the occasion of 74^th year of “Laxmi Puja” (Goddess of Wealth) at Laxmi Temple. The temple was established by Late Sri Satya Kinkar Ghanty.

Ektaan CC opens new computer training center at local Mosque

Dear Friends,

Namaste and greetings of peace from India. Here are some pictures of another computer center which opened a few weeks ago with the help of the members from the local Mosque. This is the first time in the area that a computer training program has been run by URI inside the Mosque premises. URI member Md. Sarfaraz oversees the project. We expect to run a complete educational program and engage the larger community, especially targeting children from different communities to attend classes at the center. This will allow children from other communities to an opportunity to attend the Mosque and become familiar with other religions through engagement and open interaction with other children. This initiative had been planned for a long time. So it’s now being born, we are moving forward with much concrete steps to develop the plan further for greater impact.

Indian "Independence Day" observed

Ektaan Cooperation Circle organized a soccer tournament among its members, affiliated groups and members from other organization, to observe the Indian Independence day on the 15th August. Members from Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, seniors and Youngsters played together to celebrate this day.

On 26th January 2011, Ektaan and United Religions Initiative India East zone conducted a day medical camp at Parulia village near Durgapur city, West Bengal in collaboration with Ambedkar social welfare society.
