Its goals are to: Develop a global youth network for URI; Amplify youth participation at all levels of URI (local, regional and global); Develop young people's skills, capacities and confidence so that rooted in our traditions, we can respect each other and better serve the world in which we live; Support communication flowing between young people and exchange of stories, ideas and values as a model for how "to build cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings."
Our CC now includes more than 500 youth interfaith activists from 68 countries. In 2009, we held 11 live chats online an average of 10-15 attendees, on the subjects such as Social Justice, Faith and the Environment, Health and Healing, Refugees, Education and Community Partnership, Indigenous Peoples, etc. In November 2008 - December 2009, in Mayapur, India, we held a face-to- face leadership gathering of 100 young leaders from our global youth network from 34 countries. During this leadership intensive, "Taking the Initiative: The Role of Youth in Global Interfaith Action," a number of our young leaders offered workshops in interfaith education, leadership development, faith and the environment, peacebuilding and conflict resolution. We also did an interfaith service project at a local village school in India, where we provided school supplies, planted trees and painted a peace mural.

This is an inspiring message sent by Weston Pew, one of the members of our URI Global Youth CC, to the URI global youth community at the beginning of 2010, as a New Year's Greeting.... "In this universal breath that is this moment we hold the power for absolute destruction or absolute transformation. Each of us feels this possibility from within and I believe that each of us is here right now at this time to access our greatest human potential, our greatest individual gifts and direct them towards the transformation of the greater good. In a sense we are all here as midwives to usher in this new chapter of human existence on earth and within the universe." Weston is traveling on the Sacred Door Trail right as we speak. We look forward to hearing of his experiences when he returns!
