University of Dhaka Campus Peace Rally

Dear Peace-loving Sisters and Brothers,

Please accept my greetings of peace.

An Interfaith Rally was held at the campus of the university of Dhaka on 2nd February 2017. The Rally was organized by the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID) and the Dept. of World Religions and Culture (WRC) of the University of Dhaka. Some members of IARF, URI and ARCP took part in the rally.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor A A M S Arefin Siddique, inaugurated the Rally. Among others the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Founding Director of CIID Professor Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam, present Director Dr. Fazrin Huda and the Chairman of WRC Dr. Tapan De Rozario addressed the audience.

On the occasion of Interfaith Harmony Week, the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID) and the Department of World Religions and Culture (WRC) of the University of Dhaka organized a special seminar on “The Role of the Youth in Challenging Fanaticism Throughout the World.” Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, attended the program as the Chief Guest. Professor Mizanur Rahman, former Chairman of Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh, and Professor Abu Md. Delwar, the Dean the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dhaka, attended the program as Special Guests. Professor Fazrin Huda, the Director of CIID, presided over the seminar.

Dr. Fazrin Huda, the Director of the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID), is delivering her presidential address.

On the 7th Day of the Interfaith Harmony Program, the Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CIID) and the Dept. of World Religions and Culture (WRC) held a concert on Interfaith Harmony songs in Bangladesh under the famous Banyan Tree (Bat-tola) of the University of Dhaka. The concert continued for five hours, and students belonging to different faiths and cultural background took part in the concert.
