This year’s World Village Festival, a free global festival of music, dance, theater, art and perspectives on pressing issues, will include discussions of tolerant multiculturalism, development cooperation and possibilities for individuals to make a difference in their everyday lives. The event is sponsored by KEPA, an umbrella organization of nearly 300 organizations with a focus on development.
The festival will take place on May 26 and 27, 2012.
Hendawy, URI’s Regional Coordinator for multi-regional activity, will describe the best practices by which interfaith dialogue and cooperation can promote democracy and social cohesion.
Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Hendawy works as a dynamic trainer in the fields of human rights and intercultural dialogue, and has conducted workshops on those subjects in several countries and with multiple international organizations. He currently hosts a weekly television show discussing the political situation in Egypt, and contributes regularly to local newspapers. He holds a degree in business administration and advanced certificates in peace and conflict studies.
In addition, Hendawy will work with the Espoo, Finland-based Faiths Without BordersCC to participate in other activities and meetings with community groups during his visit to Finland.
