Partnering with the Brahma Kumaris for Peace in the Park

30 August 2015

Peace in the Park was first hosted in 2013 as one-time event by the Brahma Kumaris and their friends from the Bay Area. After its astounding success, people wanted to see it become an annual festival. URI has been a presence at this amazing event since its inception, and was happy to return as a partner and exhibitor for this year’s festivities.

Gaea Denker, URI's Communications Manager, describes one of the activities at the URI booth: "We brought many photos of URI's members and friends engaging in interfaith peacebuilding work around the world. We encouraged everyone at Peace in the Park to choose a photo they liked and to write their own caption under it. Here are some of the results."

OUR PARTNERS IN PEACE

The Brahma Kumaris teach meditation techniques to enter into a natural state of calm on a daily basis enhancing our ability to think more deeply, and feel greater empathy and live out our values in more authentic ways. Daily calm, clear thinking and value-based living can all positively impact our career path, relationship and well being. Their activities are free of charge and conducted via an extensive network of trained volunteers in 9000 locations around the world, right in the heart of communities. The Brahma Kumaris is an IRS tax exempt 501(c)3 non-government organization in general status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and in consultative status with UNICEF.
