2026–2030 Global Council Trustee for Asia
Dhanapala Karunasena is a banking professional based in Badulla, Sri Lanka, and has served as President of the Child and Youth Development through Interreligious Initiative Cooperation Circle since 2013, which was recognized as the best CC in URI’s South Asia zone in 2016.
He holds a management degree from Sri Jayawardanapura University and a Master of Business Management from Uva Wellassa University. Over a 33-year banking career at Seylan Bank PLC, he built expertise in financial governance and compliance while serving for more than a decade as a visiting lecturer in banking and finance at the University of Sabaragamuwa Sri Lanka.
He is also a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Badulla District 3220, and an executive committee member of the Sarvodaya movement in Sri Lanka.
