URI Africa partners with the World Public Forum for September event in Greece

21 May 2014

Dear Friends,

Greetings of peace and blessings from URI Africa.

I just came back from an international coordination meeting of the World Public Forum, “Dialogue of Civilizations,” where we have been working to finalize the agenda of the 2014 World Public Forum meeting to be held at Rhodes, Greece this September.

I am so happy to share with you that URI Africa established a working partnership with the Forum. In this recent World Public Forum, URI Africa is going to help in the preparation for the workshop on Africa Issue.

The World Public Forum (WPF)’s "Dialogue of Civilizations" is a deliberative-consultative body that unites into a single network with various international and national nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), representatives of public and state institutions, civil society organizations and faith-based groups, academics, representatives of cultural, spiritual, business, and media spheres from different countries. Participants also come from diverse civilizations and cultural traditions to share the principles of openness and mutual respect that form the basis of contemporary dialogue of civilizations.

The main goals of the Forum are to unite the efforts of the global community to protect the spiritual and cultural values of humankind and to create a space for constructive dialogue among the major civilizations of the modern world. The work of the Forum is aimed at defining, developing and promoting dialogue, and introducing the spirit of cooperation and understanding into everyday life.

May Peace Prevail on Earth.

In peace and gratitude,

Mussie Hailu, Regional Coordinator, URI Africa
