Lokenath Chatterjee at Amritsar URI India Assembly

Dear Friends,

Namsate and greetings of peace.

URI India Eastern Zone is saddened to share the news of Lokenath Chatterjee, who left his physical body last night in his home town of Bankura, West Bengal, to join our Celestial CC, leaving behind his wife, two sons, daughter and son-in-law.

Lokenath Chatterjee was a very active member of URI India Eastern Zone from Rural Development Society CC (RDS). Lokenath Chatterjee participated actively in every URI national and regional assembly. He supported the cause at a very local level, his very active voice always raised against any form of discrimination.

I remember a moment when I first met brother Lokenath, introducing him to URI, and asked him a question of how much he believes at a community level we can establish better interfaith actions. He replied, "I am a proud Hindu Brahmin meeting everyday with a Christian/tribal leader (Rev. Kalyan Kumar Kisku) in the office of RDS where we both are taken care of by an office boy by Md. Ramjan (a Muslim fellow working at RDS office), and our bonding is getting deeper."

Lokenath Chatterjee died exactly on the same day he was born 61 years ago. It was the 17th of March. We lost one precious member, a brother and a humble, well-versed friend. We pray that, as we continue our work and grow, his blessing may continue from celestial strength.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the departed soul.

May God give the comfort and peace to all, and especially to our regional leader, Rev. Kisku, a close friend of Lokenath Chatterjee, who is standing next to the family in the moment of crisis.

Peace,
