Many people in our communities and countries today have been victims and perpetrators of violent extremism. However, together, we can prevent violent extremism in our communities!
The URI Middle East and North Africa (MENA) conducted a three- day training course on “Preventing violent Extremism” at the URI MENA office
Eleven Cooperation Circle representatives from Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, and Syria along with the URI Regional Leadership Team and two URI volunteers attended the training.
The training achieved the following objectives:
Sharing the knowledge, lessons learned and good practices developed during the URI MENA 17th Regional Assembly held in Morocco in June 2022.
Awareness about the root causes of violent extremism.
Understanding the process of radicalization that leads to terrorism.
Understood the importance of the whole-of-society approach to P/CVE.
Developed participants’ competencies in Critical Thinking, Intercultural Sensitivity, and Diversity.
Develop projects and initiatives for P/CVE.
URI MENA will continue organising P/CVE trainings to support efforts to prevent violent extremism.
