Earth is home, humans are family
Think Round, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in 2004. Even before that time, Think Round, Inc. has been teaching thousands of elementary school children and their families using their innovative art and science curricular.
The epicenter of Think Round, Inc.’s programming is The Human Family Tree / A Walk Through Paradise (Paradise), an elaborate and multifaceted art installation that is emerging from direct experience in San Francisco’s traditionally underserved Southeast Sector
Working with city and federal agencies, public schools, community groups and artists, Think Round has created enrichment programs that have taken a leap forward—giving voice and active roles to residents in the physical enhancements of the Southeast Sector of San Francisco (SF) and providing youth with hope for vital, happy, healthy and productive futures at this time of community revitalization.
"Our mission has always been to bring together art and science to strengthen the potential of home and family. Think Round was formally incorporated in 2004 and received its 501(c)(3) status in 2006. Today, I’m excited to share how that mission is taking shape through The Paradise Project and our Virtual Center for the Human Family." Heidi Hardin, Executive Director, Think Round Inc., Cooperation Circle
Think Round Inc. Cooperation Circle is currently working toward three key goals:
First, to complete The Paradise Project — a massive art and storytelling initiative; second, to build a physical and virtual Center for the Human Family, modeled as a sustainable reuse of a former Superfund site; and finally, to contribute to delivering peace by 2030, a vision we share with many of our interfaith and community partners.
A globally unique, seven-part art installation featuring 546 portraits across 10 world religions—offering pathways to empathy, healing, and interfaith understanding.
A glimpse of this amazing work!

"This image brings us into a space that bridges family, ancestry, and planetary belonging. At the center is a portrait I painted of one of the African families featured in The Paradise Project, the Biayes in Part III, Art of the Family (Muslims).
They stand proud, rooted in tradition, culture, and resilience—each member dressed in garments that express identity, lineage, and love.
The gallery visitors surrounding this portrait are part of a broader scene that we’ve imagined for the Virtual Center for the Human Family—where families from around the globe are honored through art, story, and presence. This immersive environment invites us not just to look, but to listen. You’ll notice the headphones: they’re part of our effort to integrate oral history, languages, and personal narratives into the exhibition space.
To the left, a child gazes at the Earth—reminding us of the shared home we all belong to. To the right, two young women engage joyfully with another portrait—affirming that connection, learning, and empathy can be sparked by art.
This captures the soul of our work: restoring the sacredness of family, honoring cultural dignity, and building a world where no one’s story is invisible.” Heidi Hardin.

“The architecture of the Virtual Center is rich with symbolism. The stained-glass dome represents humanity’s shared origin and migration across the continents. Surrounding walls come alive with the flora and fauna of each region, while ground-level, interactive displays celebrate the religious iconography of the world’s faiths—illuminating the beauty of our spiritual journeys and the deep interconnection that unites us all.” Heidi Hardin.
