Every February, during World Interfaith Harmony Week, something remarkable happens across the globe. In cities, villages, schools, universities, and community spaces, people of different faiths and cultures come together with a shared purpose: to listen, learn, and build peace.
Through the URI global network, grassroots Cooperation Circles transform this week into a living expression of harmony. Their efforts show that peace is not only a global aspiration; it is something built locally, person by person, conversation by conversation.
From youth workshops in Tunisia to women sharing stories around a table in Yemen, from student art competitions in India to interfaith conversations in Scotland, and from a concert celebrating diverse traditions in Bulgaria to silent marches for the protection of children and women in South India, these moments reveal the heart of the URI network. They are simple yet powerful acts of connection that ripple outward, linking local communities to a global movement for peace.
For our partners, supporters, and donors, these stories illustrate the extraordinary reach of grassroots leadership. When you support URI, you are supporting thousands of everyday peacebuilders, students, teachers, artists, faith leaders, women, and young people who are nurturing trust across divides and creating spaces where dialogue can flourish.
Together, these initiatives form a tapestry of hope. Each gathering, each shared meal, each artistic expression, and conversation becomes a thread connecting communities across continents.
This blog highlights just a few of the inspiring ways URI Cooperation Circles celebrated World Interfaith Harmony Week 2026. Their stories remind us that while cultures and traditions may differ, the human desire for understanding and peace is universal.
And when communities come together in harmony, even for a single week, they help shape a more compassionate world for the generations to come.
Here are a few inspiring highlights from this global week of harmony.
Latin America and the Caribbean

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, Cooperation Circles exchanged Letters of Harmony, heartfelt messages of peace, gratitude, and connection.
Each letter served as a bridge between communities, spiritual traditions, and cultures, reminding participants that dialogue can travel across borders and differences. These messages became seeds of trust, mutual recognition, and shared hope for a more peaceful world.
From heartfelt letters crossing borders in Latin America, the spirit of harmony continued in South Asia, where communities took to the streets to advocate for dignity and safety.
South India
Karickam International School

In South India, URI South India and Karickam International School Cooperation Circle organized a “Walk for Freedom” campaign advocating for the rights and protection of women and children.
Around 100 participants joined the silent march, dressed in black and holding posters calling attention to the many children and women who disappear each year or suffer due to conflict. The march highlighted the community’s commitment to justice, protection, and peace for all.
While communities in India raised their voices for justice and protection, young people in North Africa gathered to explore what peaceful coexistence looks like in their own lives.

Peace for All CC

The Peace for All Cooperation Circle marked World Interfaith Harmony Week at the University Cultural Center of Sousse with an event themed “Culture of Peace and World Harmony.”
Thirty young participants from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds gathered to explore the importance of coexistence and dialogue. The program included presentations introducing the mission of URI and the global significance of Interfaith Harmony Week, followed by interactive workshops focused on peacebuilding, creative expression, and youth storytelling.
Participants concluded the event with an exhibition of their work, interfaith games promoting cooperation, and a symbolic “Buffet of Harmony,” where they shared food and conversation in a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Across the region, other gatherings also demonstrated how everyday moments can nurture understanding even something as simple as cooking together.

URI MENA

In Taiz, Yemen, women gathered around a “Harmony Table” during World Interfaith Harmony Week.
While preparing traditional dishes together, participants shared stories, memories, and hopes for their communities. What began as cooking quickly became meaningful dialogue, creating a welcoming space where women from different backgrounds could connect and build trust.
The gathering reflected a simple yet powerful truth: sometimes peace begins with listening and with sharing a meal.
Across the globe in India, young students were also exploring harmony this time through art, poetry, and creative expression.
East India
Bokaro CC

In Bokaro, a special Interfaith Harmony Week celebration was organized at the Swang Dakshini Panchayat Bhavan through collaboration between URI East India, Bokaro Peace Circle, Bermo Foundation for Environment and Peace, and Panch Sutra Foundation.
Around 110 students participated in painting and poetry competitions, expressing messages of peace, unity, and brotherhood through art and words.
Community leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in today’s world. All students received medals of encouragement, and winners were honored with special prizes, reinforcing the importance of nurturing values of harmony among the next generation.
Meanwhile in Europe, dialogue took shape in intimate conversations that encouraged participants to learn from each other's traditions.
Interfaith Scotland
In Scotland, an Interfaith Conversation Café brought together participants from diverse faith and belief backgrounds for thoughtful dialogue.
Discussions explored religious calendars and festivals, helping participants better understand each other’s traditions. A presentation from Interfaith Alignment and a closing Metta meditation encouraged reflection on compassion, kindness, and shared humanity.
Further east in Europe, harmony was expressed through music, poetry, and dance in a powerful celebration of shared cultural heritage.
Europe
Bridges CC

In Sofia, Bulgaria, the “Bridges of Harmony” concert took place at the Royal Palace Vrana to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Organized by BRIDGES Cooperation Circle, the event brought together representatives from multiple religious communities alongside diplomats, cultural leaders, and youth performers.
Through music, poetry, and traditional dance, the program highlighted the beauty of diverse traditions, including Orthodox Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Armenian cultural expressions. Young performers played a central role, symbolizing the future of interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
The evening demonstrated how art can become a powerful language of unity, showing that harmony is not only musical, it is also a way of living together with dignity and respect.
And once again in India, young people took center stage—demonstrating how the next generation continues to lead the movement for peace.
URI Asia
Youth for Peace

During a peace rally organized by the URI South India Region, young people gathered to celebrate the spirit of Interfaith Harmony Week.
At the event, Issac S Thomas, Vice Chair of the Global Council of the United Religions Initiative, presented the Virtual Embassy of Peace Award from the Universal Circle of Peace Ambassadors to Karickam International Public School.
The award recognized the school’s dedication to peacebuilding and its efforts to inspire young people to foster understanding, unity, and cooperation.
The rally highlighted the powerful role youth play in building a more peaceful future.
These stories represent only a small glimpse of the incredible work happening across the global network of the United Religions Initiative. Every day, grassroots peacebuilders are creating spaces where dialogue replaces division and trust grows across cultures and faith traditions.
This work is possible because of supporters who believe that peace begins locally but connects us globally. Your support empowers communities to organize gatherings, inspire youth, and nurture relationships that make lasting peace possible.
Together, we can continue strengthening this global movement one conversation, one community, and one act of harmony at a time.
