URI Stories of Impact

The struggle at Standing Rock Native American Reservation, in North Dakota in the United States, encompasses many of the same issues that those in the URI community struggle to overcome every day.

Taking advantage of URI’s global network, two Cooperation Circles have connected to better serve their communities. 

Joy Foundation celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the disabled persons of district Toba Tek Singh.

Kathak Dharohar extended its solidarity with underprivileged, handicapped, and physically challenged children.

The Youth Exchange enabled four organizations from Jordan, Tunisia, Latvia and Spain to exchange knowledge and culture through sports

This past weekend may prove to be pivotal, not just for Standing Rock but possibly for indigenous and environmental movements worldwide.

The Cultural Kitchen is a strong example of how women everywhere can help empower one another, provide opportunities, learning and build community with one another.

World AIDS Day is for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and to show support for people who are suffering from HIV. 

it is a place held by the Oceti Sakowin people and, as a visitor to the camp, I am here in service to them. In this place that they have molded, resistance is ceremony and prayer, and everything happens in a circle.
