ECOYA aims at promoting peaceful coexistence among youths in secondary schools, with the idea of trying to get more youths discuss about their cultural and religious differences and similarities to make sure that they tolerate despite of their differences.

Environmental Concerned Youth Association (ECOYA) is a leading NGO established in November 1998.
Members conduct interfaith/ intercultural trainings, environmental conservation campaigns, human rights promotion and youth work. With their activities they desire to achieve peaceful coexistence among the youths, a cleaner and health environment, safety in community and respect of human dignity.
From January 2011 to January 2012, ECOYA received funding from the United States Embassy under PEPFAR for the implementation of a project called ‘Breaking the Wall’.
From 2014 to 2017 ECOYA implemented a project called ‘Enhancing Environmental Health Rights for Communities’ with donor support from Tilitonse Fund.
From 2018 to 2020 ECOYA, in partnership with Makala Community Based Organization successfully advocated for instituting of a sexual harassment reporting protocol by Thyolo District in a project titled ‘Let Us Speak Out’ with funding from Rise up Together.
2020-2021 ECOYA, with funding from PEPFAR, implemented an initiative known as ‘Youth Comprehensive Action on HIV/AIDS (YOUTH CAP+) on promoting HIV/AIDS information and services among adolescents
In 2021, ECOYA implemented another project (Economic Justice for Women Now) with National Democratic Institute (NDI) on mitigating economic gender based violence experienced by women operating VSLAs in Bangwe Township.
