Matara is a district which is characterized by rich ethnic, religious and cultural diversity. Buddhists, Christians, Hindus and Muslim live in the area and diversity may be a reason for conflicts among these religious groups and therefore interfaith bridge building among these diverse groups are essential to establish peace in our society. Matara URI Development Cooperation Circle formed with the combination of individuals from all these 4 diverse religious backgrounds. and through its work it ensures that diverse religious groups seek solutions for their common issues together, Also they support self employment opportunities for women who represent diverse religious traditions under the support of the government with the purpose of eradicating poverty
