Sombor Educational Centre (SEC) Cooperation Circle (CC) is based out of Sombor, Serbia - a multicultural and multireligious environment with over 25 different nationalities and a number of different religions. They all live together but there are expressed prejudices, distance, non-tolerance and, in some cases, hate toward neighbors and Muslims. The traces of the war are still present and it is crucial to empower youth to build peace and the best way is to meet each other, learn about other cultures, other religions, ethnic societies, etc. CC members are willing to improve their work with young people promoting diversities, non-violence and human rights. The team consists of young professionals from different fields such as education, psychology, pedagogy, law, web design and other fields. Mostly the group is formed by Serbian Orthodox, non-religious people and Muslims who agree that to raise awareness about the importance of spirituality and respecting something that is different is really needed. Sombor Educational Centre (SEC) has huge experience in conducting activities such as workshops, training courses, conferences, public actions, etc., for young people and children. Sombor Educational Centre is also part of big and significant networks on the national and international level, such as National Association of Youth Workers (NAPOR), Serbian Youth Umbrella Organization (KOMS), Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia (MODS), Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), and also cooperates with the members of global network “Religions for Peace” through partnerships and participations in their activities. Through six years of experience, SEC has realized many projects on different topics in the fields of inclusion, violence, human rights, communication, participation, unemployment, volunteerism and youth activism, ecology and environmental protection.
