URI SEAPac Liaison - Indonesia
Wiji joined the United Religions Initiative (URI) in 2025 and currently serves as a Community Liaison for the Southeast Asia and the Pacific (SEAPac) region, based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In this role, Wiji works closely with diverse communities, youth networks, and interfaith organizations to strengthen collaboration, promote intercultural understanding, and support peacebuilding initiatives across the
region.
Professionally, Wiji works as a research and advocacy staff member in a non-governmental organization, focusing on social justice, community empowerment, and inclusive civic engagement. With an academic background in anthropology, Wiji is particularly interested in issues related to intercultural dialogue, human rights, and peacebuilding.
Beyond her professional work, Wiji is actively involved in the Gusdurian Network, a community inspired by the values and legacy of Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), promoting pluralism, tolerance, democracy, and social justice in Indonesia. She is also engaged in various peacebuilding communities and international networks, collaborating with activists, researchers, faith leaders, and young peacebuilders from diverse backgrounds to foster solidarity, mutual respect, and sustainable peace.
Based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Wiji continues to contribute to grassroots initiatives and regional partnerships that strengthen social cohesion in Southeast Asia and beyond.
