URI Global Chair Speaks at Huddersfield Climate Strike

On the 20th of September, adults and young people took to the streets of Huddersfield, striking from their school or workplace, booking a holiday, taking a half-day or walking out over lunch.

People from all backgrounds stood together in solidarity to demand immediate action to address the climate crisis and devastating consequences impacting our world.

On the stage, Kiran Bali MBE JP, Global Chair said, "As we demand action from governments and policy makers, in parallel we must make personal changes to our lifestyle. We strike globally but we must strike at our individual habits.”

“Here are three recommendations:

  • Strike 1 - Adopt a plant-based diet.
  • Strike 2 - Eliminate plastic from our homes.
  • Strike 3  - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”

“In the sport Baseball, three strikes are interpreted as the individual is OUT! But these three strikes will safely ensure the individual secures a HOME run. These collective runs will secure a future home for our children."
