Prayer and Positive Intention in URI’s Community

As we nurture the spirit of URI, let us renew the power of prayer and positive intention that unites our global community and awakens our hearts and souls. See the full series of posts here.

Holding the Space that Holds Us

During URI’s early years, a small group formed in order to, as they described it, “hold the space that holds us.”

“Holding space” is an intention and action that leaves an opening for the sacred to enter and supports the highest good in one another. “Holding the space that holds us” continues to be a precious and sacred space that holds URI’s diverse global community together.  In just the past month, URI “airwaves” using texts, emails, Facebook posts, and Zoom calls, have brimmed over with prayers and positive intentions. “Holding space” for one another by communicating prayers and positive intentions is alive and well!

Prayers and positive support have been flying across the world: to bring healing to people hospitalized for Covid; to end destructive fires in Cape Town; share blessings for Ramadan and Easter; to honor the passing of founding members; to pray that each CC (Cooperation Circle, or URI member group) fulfills its aspirations and lives in peace; to welcome new CCs and new staff; and, to give abundant appreciation and bon voyage to people moving on. Prayers and positive intention celebrate successes like a dissertation completed, a first virtual CC meeting, URI zonal meetings, cultural cafes, and excellent Zoom calls on important topics. Here are just a few examples:

“Our religion teaches us to pray for each other for the GRACE of healing from the Almighty. May you recover in record time; our love and prayers for you.”

“On this Golden Rule Day, I am thinking of our dear brother and praying that he heals fully.”

“Abrazos fuertes, rezamos por usted!”

“Don’t worry, all will be fine with the help of the creator of the universe.”

“I PRAY TO GOD that this initiative will grow. It's really incredible. From Brazil/from Latin America we are sending all the good lights to this project. Please send news about the process so that we can spread the idea.”

“Loving support and courage to you and to all those working hard to sustain peace in Somalia.”

Please share your examples of the ways you have experienced “holding the space that holds us.”  Send to [email protected] or to the URI Contacts email list.
