Ending violence has been a primary goal of URI since its founding in 2000. URI, along with AELI Hills Camp Centre in Kerala, recently organized a three-day training focused on peacebuilding and violence prevention.
Other partners in this initiative included the Traveling Peace Academy and One Billion Youth for Peace.
This three-day training brought together 60 participants from India and Sri Lanka with the sole objective of equipping young people with the skills to prevent violence.

URI believes that violence, including religiously motivated violence, is a behavior that can—and must—be prevented in order to create cultures of peace, justice, and healing.
“I am at a loss for words to express the happiness and contentment I experienced over the past three days. Our happiness index just peaked,” said Gitanjali Javed from Spotlight Academy CC.
The program featured engaging sessions, as well as dance, drama, and music.
“We made lifelong friends, and the food and accommodations rejuvenated our spirits. A highlight of the experience was our afternoon trip to the city. Thank you to the organizers. God bless you all.” – Gitanjali Javed
