The United Religions Initiative (URI) continues to grow stronger and more vibrant. One of the most exciting recent developments has been the expansion of our Individual Membership program, which offers new pathways for engagement and visibility within URI.

Today, there are already more than 2,000 Individual Members from over 120 countries, a powerful testament to the global reach and diversity of our community. By joining as an Individual Member, people become part of a worldwide family committed to peace, justice, and healing for the Earth and all living beings.

New Individual Members Emerging from Global Gatherings

During the recent G20 Interfaith Forum in Cape Town, URI’s presence was marked not only by meaningful dialogue but also by the opportunity to welcome new Individual Members. Thanks to the collaboration of our staff and leadership, several distinguished individuals joined URI as Individual Members, underscoring the growing recognition of our global network.

Among them are:

  • Adama Dieng, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, whose lifelong commitment to peace, justice, and human rights resonates deeply with URI’s mission.
  • King Bongwe II Nkosinathi Eugine, a respected traditional leader whose voice and vision strengthen URI’s work in honoring cultural wisdom and fostering reconciliation.

Their involvement brings not only prestige but also invaluable experience and insight to URI’s growing circle of Individual Members.

Visibility Through Symbols of Belonging

Equally inspiring is the way our Individual Members are proudly carrying URI’s vision into their communities. At the recent URI Europe Interfaith Youth Camp in Ruse, Bulgaria, Prince Boris of Bulgaria wore the URI pin with pride — a simple but powerful symbol of belonging, visibility, and shared purpose. Such gestures remind us of the importance of visibility in promoting the Individual Membership program and strengthening URI’s identity globally.

Building Momentum Together

These developments are more than symbolic; they represent the ongoing effort to nurture connections, empower leaders, and expand the URI family. Each new Individual Member strengthens our capacity to build bridges across traditions, cultures, and regions.

The success in Cape Town and Bulgaria demonstrates the importance of collaboration between staff, regional teams, and members. It shows that when we work together with intention, we create pathways for engagement that inspire both individuals and communities to deepen their connection with URI.

Looking Ahead

The Individual Membership program continues to be a cornerstone for URI’s growth, providing opportunities for personal connection, leadership, and visibility. As we celebrate these new members and their contributions, we also look forward to further collaborations that will bring more voices, more wisdom, and more energy into URI’s global family.

Together, we are building a movement where each member, whether part of a Cooperation Circle or an Individual Member, carries the spirit of URI into the world.
