On August 23, 2025, the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation in partnership with Jacob Foundation for Family Health (JFFH) conducted an empowerment program for young and old women in Leleyi Bassa Community in Kwali Local Government Area, Abuja.

The women were equipped with the knowledge and skills to improve their livelihoods and make good health decisions. Specifically, they were trained on how to produce liquid soap to enhance their economic independence.

At the end of the training, they were empowered with the materials to kickstart their own soap making business. They also received teachings on sexual and reproductive health to foster healthier families and a more informed community.

Leleyi Bassa is a rural community located in the Pai District of Kwali Area Council, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria. It is inhabited by indigenous groups, including the Bassa people.

Like many rural communities in Kwali, Leleyi Bassa faces infrastructural deficits, including limited access to electricity, healthcare, and quality roads.

These challenges often hinder economic growth and access to essential services.
