The United Religions Initiative (URI) held an unprecedented global gathering of 300 grassroots interfaith leaders, from 44 countries, including over one hundred young leaders.

The United Religions Initiative was inaugurated in the year 2000, when representatives of a wide variety of religions from many countries of the world joined in signing the URI Charter, developed over five years of global consultation.
