A group of professionals from different backgrounds in Honduras working to strengthen community organization, cultural identity, and social wellbeing among Garifuna communities in the Tela region. Its activities include educational meetings introducing organizations and collaborative methodologies for violence prevention, presenting community diagnostic reports, and building partnerships with groups defending ancestral territories, culture, and environmental rights. Supports community advocacy by raising awareness for Garifuna defenders who have been criminalized or killed, and by participating in marches and pilgrimages that affirm Garifuna rights and dignity.
In addition to advocacy and dialogue, the Cooperation Circle engages directly with young people and community members through workshops, interviews, and recreational activities. Programs include conversations with young vendors about their experiences, workshops on masculinity and violence prevention, and gatherings with community leaders to plan collective initiatives. Through these efforts, the Cooperation Circle seeks to empower youth and women, strengthen living cultural and ancestral practices among younger generations, and support healthier, more resilient communities rooted in solidarity and cultural pride.
