Peace CC members Jayanti and Suhas joined several other CC members of different URIs and scholars from different parts of the world to celebrate World Inter-faith Harmony week at Colombo during first week of February 2015. As part of the occasion, sixth international conference on Holy books was organized by Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Centre for Dialogue, Kottarakkara and Cosmic Community Centre, Karickam with local support of Sarvodaya santhi Sena CC, Colombo in which 125 delegates participated.

One of the areas in which URI Cooperation Circles work is around issues of women – positioning them as leaders in their communities. 

Twelve years ago when we started the Holy Books Conference series, we never expected it to become so important an international interfaith event. 

As I read the paper this morning in Kerala, India, I was startled to read the following: “If we can have a United Nations Organization, can we not have a United Religions Organization?”

A unique institution in Punjab, India, the school serves 225 handicapped children and is a pioneer in North India in the field of education for children with special needs. 

It was indeed a noble beginning for PEACE CC this year, as it extended valuable help to handicapped students. The brain behind this was Maitri, the dynamic youth of our CC.

Last month, during our meeting, Maitri Tanna, an active youth member of PEACE CC (Multiregion) came up with an innovative idea of mass collection of old newspapers, old paper boxes and selling them to earn some money and use the money to help two handicapped students attending school. She wanted to begin the New Year with a noble cause. As the old papers goes for recycling in a way this also helps towards environment cause, she said.
