it is a place held by the Oceti Sakowin people and, as a visitor to the camp, I am here in service to them. In this place that they have molded, resistance is ceremony and prayer, and everything happens in a circle.
By teaching students the importance of treating themselves and others with kindness and respect, we set behavioral expectations and help students recognize inappropriate and unsafe behaviors.
Over the weekend, a URI delegation traveled to the Oceti Sakowin Camp, the largest camp of Water Protectors at Standing Rock, to deliver a collection of prayers and support from the worldwide URI community, and to participate in a Day of Interfaith Prayer on December 4.
