The United Nations (UN) is an international organization, founded in 1945, tasked to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations.

The connection between URI and the UN has flourished for decades. Since 2000, URI has been recognized as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. URI’s strong and growing partnerships with additional UN Agencies enable the URI network to access UN resources, and be a part of a broader global movement to realize the dream of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more about URI and the UN.
