URI Stories of Impact

Makara Sankranti (also known as Makaraa Sankrānti or Maghi) is a 5,000-year-old Hindu festival marking the sun’s journey after the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days.

Father James Channan OP, URI Regional Coordinator in Pakistan, sends this article from Paris, France on the important interfaith and peace work which Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Grand Imam Of the Badshahi Mosque and he are doing in Pakistan.

This is a positive sign in Pakistan because, through URI, students are taking the initiative to promote peace and interfaith harmony. Together, Christian and Muslim students organized this program.

The first step of our New Year celebration was lighting candles as we directed our prayers towards World Peace.

Members of Zero Limits Cooperation Circle (a URI member group) held an interfaith Christmas celebration with students.

On 22nd December 2018, our Zero Limits family joined hands for yet another mesmerizing celebration with the URI South India & Sri Lanka Region.

Peace Sunday, sponsored by Unity & Diversity World Council, along with One Global Family Foundation, Interfaith Communities United for Peace & Justice, IMAN Cultural Center and other co-sponsors, is a spiritual call to action, empowering us to build a peaceful and sustainable future.
