The celebrations are part of the key activities under URI’s “project to promote women’s property rights in both Jinja and Mayuge districts in Eastern Uganda,” and is executed by URI together with two Cooperation Circles in that region.
International Women’s Day is celebrated in some countries and is completely unknown in the others. It is a big holiday in Russia, but the symbolic meaning has changed from the equal rights day to a day when all women get praise and presents.
Congratulations to all these CCs! All of the Cooperation Circles that plan to participate in IDP 2017 are helping to expand the International Day of Peace in ways that will highlight their work within URI and within their own networks. We are so pleased with the enthusiasm that has been generated!
