URI celebrates the work and leadership of young people. Cooperation Circles work towards equity and fair age representation in all aspects of their work.

Examples of our work in this Action Area:

The URI Youth Connection Cafe is a monthly virtual meeting space for young people across the URI network to connect, learn together, and share their experiences as young interfaith peacebuilders. Each Cafe is hosted by a different youth Cooperation Circle who chooses the topic and facilitates the session. Read more here. Please contact URI if you would like to join these gatherings!
In MENA, Desert Bloom CC regularly hosts youth exchange programs offering young people the experience of meeting across cultures and participating in cultural activities together. Most recently, Desert Bloom participated in the Creating the Way Youth Exchange program in Romania.
In South India, Ecopeace Teen Cafe runs a transformative educational experience for 30 young high school learners. This five-month program covers four modules: community building, environment conservation, social justice, and peace. The learners engage weekly with different guest speakers and participate in activities together, facilitated by a team of youth volunteers. Read more here.

Cooperation Circles in Malawi Collaborate for Peacebuilding Efforts

The Wildlife and Natural Resources Conversation and Rehabilitation Trust (WNRCRT) Cooperation Circle, Lilongwe Cooperation Circle, and Chisapo Youth Network unite for peacebuilding efforts in Malawi.

Equipping Youth with Employable skills

AFFCAD Cooperation Circle in Kampala Uganda supported 262 young people to gain entrepreneurial skills to help them recover from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their livelihood.

Civil Peace Service Regional Conference

Youth from Nepal, Cambodia, the Philippines, Ukraine, Palestine, and Lebanon convened for a conference to share insights on youth inclusion in decision-making for a sustainable and prosperous future.

Healthy Lives for Youth

AFFCAD Cooperation Circle in Uganda organized a health camp to increase access and use of quality, inclusive, and integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights-SRHR and HIV services among vulnerable and young people living in the slums of Kawempe- Uganda.

URI representative at Train-the-Trainer Workshop organized by Deutsche Welle (DW) Academy

Lejla Hasandedic-Dapo, URI Europe CC Liaison Officer and URI Individual Membership Coordinator was invited together with 13 other participants from all over the World to participate at the Deutsche Welle (DW) Academy Train-the-Trainer – Workshop and Individual Coaching for Interfaith & Religious Leaders.

Baraza Cooperation Circle initiated a programme called UNITY. This society-rooted scheme will promote positive values of integration, make participants economic assets by acquiring strong skills for employment or volunteering, and enable them to appreciate equality and diversity in their communities.

10 young people and their leader represented Desert Bloom Cooperation Circle in a Youth Exchange program under the project “PEACE: Psychological and Eco-social Aspects of Climate Change,” hosted by Permacultura Cantabria in Penagos, Cantabria - Spain, from 18-25 Oct. 2022.

URI Youth Connection Café addresses the role of faith and youth groups in ensuring government accountability

Each month the URI Youth Connection Café is open to young people across the network to come and meet others and engage in a topic presented by the hosting CC. In August, young people from Africa, Europe, and Asia shared their views on the role of faith and youth groups in ensuring Government accountability.
