URI-Africa came to learn with the deepest shock and immense sadness the death of H.E. Mr. Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate.

BRIDGES Cooperation Circle held its annual inter-cultural youth camp, for young people coming from different cultural and religious traditions to learn about each other and form friendships.

"They reflected on how we are interconnected and interdependent as a common humanity"

In total, close to 300 people were gathered with an overarching goal of joining together to learn from one another and to brainstorm new ways of galvanizing interfaith leaders and activists to take interfaith work to the next level. The desire to make a difference in our troubled times was a common thread among participants

The sound of a meditation singing bell started my day off at URI. On my first day, the staff meeting began with a meditative reflection.

Circles have always been an essential part of URI. In a circle, there is no head of the table; all voices are heard and valued. This is why URI’s grassroots, interfaith groups call themselves “Cooperation Circles.”
